New Chromatic Harmony Blog now on the Web!!

Ok so now here is the new blog: Chromatic Harmony and Composition devoted entirely(or at least mostly)to composing and improvising in non diatonic keys. Now, Chromaticism is not just randomly being stupid and doing random chords and notes to sound dissonant on purpose. The idea is to get dissonance in a pleasing way. :) Nope, Chromatic music is comprised of my own Harmony rules I'm deriving from the roots of music; there is order and theory and alot of fun too! Duh, why would we play music if we didn't enjoy it?! :P Now what I mean by non-diatonic is that chromatic music is not diatonic, simple as that. Normal major, minor, phrygian, locrian, ect... are derived from a 7 note diatonic scale, the notes within these scales make up the harmonic library of diatonic harmony(to a point, of course...) But chromatic is the opposite. In chromatic harmony, we use all 12 notes of the chromatic scale in certain ways inorder to come out with something at least half decent. lol Now, from a stand point, it seems like it would come out sounding like horror music or something, but that's where the theory comes in later ^__^

Now the whole purpose of this blog/site/learn thingy, is so everyone can keep track of my progress with this thing and learn to compose and improvise this type of music as well. Posted Tuesday, October 26, 2010
